Comments: I'm a Realtor and my client had a deck built by Deck Dynasty just over a year ago. She is now selling the home and the inspector found SEVERAL code violations and poor construction issues re: the deck construction. The worst is that the deck was attached to the home with the improper hardware. There should be NO code violations on a deck that is barely a year old!Duluth GA

Comments: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! We got our deck "stained" over a year ago using Deck Dynasty. The job was so horrible, we ended up speaking to Rich, the owner, and were told we would get 50% of our money back. We called repeatedly for over 8 months, and were told multiple times that the check was in the mail. Rich eventually started screening our calls, so we used a different number. Needless to say, we never received our refund. DO NOT USE DECK DYNASTY!Marietta GA

Work Description: Build a screened room on an existing deck.
Comments: I negotiated the contract with the company and a few days later called to discuss the architect’s drawings I had done because they seemed confused about how to do the roof. This allowed the room to be the desired size so it was bigger but had less railings and spindles. They sent a different sales guy out and we discussed the drawings, included them in the contract and I paid deposit. This guy came to my home 6 hours late so it got dark and he started hinting at staying for dinner and then staying the night. (I was home alone). Well The crew started a couple days after they said they would and when I got home they were not following the drawings. They stopped work for a month leaving all the deck debris scattered around my deck and yard with rusty screws sticking out everywhere. They demanded a new contract that included a much smaller scope of work for them to perform. I was desperate to get the work done and they new it. I had paid a deposit and my deck and yard were dangerous for my young son and unuseable by my family. I could not get another contractor to touch a job that had been abandoned by another company (deck dynasty). The crew started again 7 days after they said they would. After three days of work they took two weeks off my job. My deck was unuseable for the entire summer. The craftsmanship is horrible. The gutters are each 3 feet too short and the downspout was left laying on the ground. The spindles are too short, Corners do not meet up, basically there are gaps everywhere in the framing. The trim work does not cover the raw edges of the boards that it is designed to cover. The doors do not shut and on one they used 2X4s instead of doorstop. The screens are all loose and floppy. The wood frames are made of spliced pieces so they can not be removed as designed without falling apart. And of course they did not do the electrical work or painting that was included in our original contract. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of these people. And they stacked my furniture on my Hampton Bay couch putting holes in the wicker.Woodstock GA

Work Description: Deck rebuild, deck stairs built, under decking and ceiling
Comments: From their start date to finish it was about 9 weeks - from the date we write the first check it was about 12 weeks . The original project manager who quoted the projected was no longer with the company - everyone else had a difficult time interpreting our project and of course blamed the project manager who was no longer there. Initial deck build team did quality work but they walked off the job. The finishing crew were not as detial oriented - all in all we love the deck portion - the underdeck has a long way to go. Really they are just deck builders not that all is on their website.Fulton NY

Comments: Only giving one star because no stars was not an option. If you can, avoid working with this company on any project. Not only is the product they create not specific to what you asked for, the workmanship is ametuerish and they company itself is dishonest and steals money.My initial plans had to be revised because, surprise, the representative of this company did not know basic GA regulations. The builders, who were 2 weeks late getting started, built to the wrong measurements specified in the plans, which they did not have a copy of. They had the redo an entire section of my deck. Now, they tell me they are done, shoddy work at best, but I've had enough of these people at my house. I ask about the gate across the top of the stairs, "I don't no nothing about no gate." So I contact the "engineer" who assures me a gate will be built. It was, of course, but need to change the law cation of the latch because it is not 6 inches below the railing, which of course, is required in GA.
Now they are done, my yard is a mess with excessive lumber they ordered and did not use, scraps, papers, plastic bottles and bags. I text the "engineer" a couple of times and he assures me that they will be back to clean up the mess. After a week, myself and my children clean the mess up. I decide I'll take all of the excess lumber that I paid for back to 84 lumber. The day I had all of this loaded on my truck, the "engineer " called me to see if anyone ever came to clean up my yard., a week after the builders decided that they were done. I told him that everything was taken care of. I took the excess lumber, hundreds of dollars worth, back to 84 lumber, who of course, could do nothing, because it was purchased on deck dynasty's credit account. Of course, I was charged for this lumber when given a quote for my deck.. So I contacted deck dynasty, got the run around, and finally got the "engineer" who basically explained to me that this is how they rip customers off all the time. They overestimate the material need and simply keep the excess lumber. They of course do not expect a customer to return it.
So now, I have been in touch with an attorney, with my local government and with the BBB, if anyone else has gotten cheated by this company, I encourage you to contact the BBB as they can put you in touch with possible current cases. I do not mind so much that they try to rip people off, it just pisses me off when you get called on it and don't try to fix it. The customer is always right you morons and just because you have a pencil and some graph paper, that does not make you an "engineer."

After completion some boards were defective. Called again. They said they would send someone out. Never did.

Work Description: Large deck, cedar rails with black metal ballisters. Screen existing deck, framed up carport and installed doors. Framed and installed new screens. Built and installe 4 cedar screen doors with locks.
Comments: Deck project completed. Quality and strength is of highest standards, the meticulous attention to detail is everything you expect.
