Work Description: Deck mess
Comments: DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!I hired him to build a deck in May 2021. He told me it would take 4-5days to complete after HOA approval. Gave him $5k to start HOA approvals. Every excuse possible- from “I’m at the dentist . Can’t talk now because I’m drooling.” Seriously? Never taking responsibility for anything - always someone else’s fault. Did not even send to HOA until AUGUST. Meanwhile - my 5k paid his bills.
Finally received HOA approval end of August.
It is now Sept 14th and I have concrete piers in my backyard. He tells me it will take 2 more weeks.
Today’s work (Sept 14/2021) included dropping off a piece of equipment and taking the 2nd $5k check “to pay for materials.” No work done.
Multiple texts over 4 months with flat out lies.
I now have 6 concrete piers and a small bulldozer in my backyard. 4 months have passed.
Need I mention that he got covid in late August - yet another great excuse for delay. Does not recognize the fact that this should have been completed June or early July. Covid never should have been a factor.
Last promise that it will be completed on Sept 25th.
Update:
September 30th.
Never even completed frame of deck.
“Axel broke on the trailer with your materials on it. I need a forklift to get it moved to another trailer.” That was 3 weeks ago. Asked for a pic of materials, invoice. Nothing.
HOA sent letter with 2 violations- Shane has disappeared with my $10k.
Had to file a claim with his insurance to get violations taken care of - includes 1. dumping dirt and rocks on HOA property 2. Need entire French drain assessed since concrete was spilled into drainage system and bobcat was driven over French drain down side of home. Also need to landscape all the rocks that were taken from back and “dumped” as well as side of home where all rocks are smashed into ground.
No return phone calls or texts.
Unsafe condition in backyard that can’t stay with open/untreated boards.
Has all my savings and left me with a huge mess. 9/30/2021

Work Description: Large Cedar Porch
Comments: We will never hire Burke Construction and Design again!We had a porch covering built over our existing patio with an estimated cost over $30K. We started the project August 2020 and was told it would take one to one and a half months to complete. After many delays and excuses and what Mr. Burke (Shane) admitted "I dropped the ball," we thought it was completed in January 2021. In Feb 2021 we noticed that an upper outlet was missing and singles came off the roof on two separate occasions. It took many phone calls and texts to Mr. Burke to get a roofer to come and repair the roof (May 2021) with a promise that a roofing inspector would come out to investigate. After multiple phone calls and promises of a return call, Mr. Burke texted us and stated if we called again "I'm just going to block you and we can communicate via email." That was on June 8th. As on July 14, we have seen no roof inspector and the outlet has yet to be installed with a hole in the siding. No further communication has been made by Mr. Burke and we are in the process of finding someone to install the outlet.
Mr. Burke makes many promises but never completes what he starts. We have found other websites that have repeated the same information that he starts jobs but makes excuses why he can not finish. We would never recommend Burke Construction and Design Inc. for any home improvements or construction.

Work Description: Shane did a bathroom, put in hardwood flooring, and repaired structural damage around a door.
Comments: He did a great job. If he hadn't caught the structural damage around the door we would have had to replace the flooring by now.-
