Work Description: Complete remodel including 3 restrooms, kitchen and media room

Comments: Baron Construction and Remodeling Co., like any other general contractor, is only as good as the professionals responsible for managing their projects. They recently expanded their team to include new professionals with backgrounds in Construction Management of multi-million dollar builds for highly visible iconic corporate brands and it really shows! Baron's new Project Management staff are highly competent professionals who know what it takes to get the job done no matter what comes up in the process. We faced a few unforseen challenges in our build that, by all rights, could have turned into major set backs and put us months off schedule. However, because the Project Manager assigned to our build had experience in dealing with the same issues we faced, which had to do with the ground below our planned and permitted (we procured the permits ourselves, as owners, prior to the build, with the calculations and engineering we paid for through the engineering firm recommended by our architect) foundation. And, early in the pre-construction process, when Baron's Project Manager & Estimator made a visit to our property to assess the readiness of the land prior to laying the foundation, they noticed an unusual and large patch of mold growth and it was surrounded by uncharacteristically sandy soil in an area that would end up being the portion of the foundation which would support the largest weight bearing wall that would completely traverse our future dream home. They immediately called it to our attention saying that the presence of the large amount of mold was something that should be investigated before proceeding and asked if percolation tests had been required by the planning authority for the permits we procured with the help of our architect. And when I told them I wasn't sure if they had but I didn't remember any tests having been taken, they said they would look into for us. Which I thought was very nice of them since permitting was not in the scope of work we had contracted with them to perform. So, just a few days later we all agreed to meet at the site, so I could give them the actual permits as opposed to the copies of a portion of those documents I had forwarded to them when they were estimating the build. At that meeting our Project Manager told us that after conferring with the planning dept. and finding out that percolation tests had not been required for permitting, that it was his experience if there was any question whatsoever with regard to the stability of the ground, that percolation tests should be ordered. And that although the tests would be an additional expense , that NOT getting them could end up costing us much more or worse, at a time when it would be least expected. So, we ordered the tests she recommended including percolation testing and a soil survey and found that if we had built our foundation it would have in the very least resulted in cracking of that foundation which would have most likely resulted in our dream home having been condemned at incredible expense or worse yet, could have resulted in bodily harm, injury or even death in the case of a collapse! Instead, thanks to the experienced professionals at Baron Construction, we were able to take the necessary measures to better prepare the land under the foundation of our home by having pylons driven into the ground at strategic points and the rest of the soil compacted prior to laying the foundation. And, yes this was all an unexpected extra expense but that expense was nothing compared to what it could and probably would have ended up costing us , had our foundation cracked or our home collapsed! I cannot say enough about the level of care we received from the extremely knowledgeable staff at Baron Construction and Remodeling Co. who cared for us like family. I highly recommend them for any construction work and tell everyone I know about the outstanding experience I had . And, in fact, next year I'm planning to build an ADU on the property behind my home and wouldn't trust anyone BUT the professionals at Baron Construction & Remodeling Co. to build my ADU.

Work Description: Whole House Remodel and Addition

Comments: If you are thinking of hiring Baron Construction (Mike, Or, David) to do any major work - think twice! The company is a complete disaster and incompetence. They don't understand architectural or structural plans or even care about doing so. Their approach is to sign you up for a high-premium contact, and then hire low-cost subcontractors and provide zero supervision to any work. After the project starts, they will drag it as much as they can, making 9 months project last for 2 years! In the meantime, they will try to charge you 50x for simple plywood here and there. Don't bother. Take your money somewhere else where you will get quality, communication, and responsibility. We hired Baron Construction to build our dream home, and with the project only still half-way completed, it turned to be a nightmare shortly after they started on the project. Worst experience in our life. Baron Construction's incompetence and disorganization has its toll. Stay away.
