Use Cornstarch to Refresh Your Rug

While there's no use crying over spilled milk, you can rejoice over spilled cornstarch. The powdery substance works well as a carpet deodorizer. Before you vacuum, sprinkle (don't dump) cornstarch on your rug. After about 30 minutes, vacuum normally and the room will be left with a fresh scent. If you notice an ink stain on the rug, never fear. Grab that cornstarch and some milk and mix them to create a paste. Apply the paste to the ink stain and wait a few hours for it to dry. Vacuum the residue and your stain should be gone. And when the dog goes tearing into the house with muddy paws, don't worry. Blot the spot, put some cornstarch onto what's left, wait for it to dry and vacuum up the paw prints.
