Upholstery Stain Removal

A piece of furniture can fit your lifestyle just as your clothing fits you, and can be much more expensive and difficult to replace. Stained upholstery can ruin an otherwise perfect dining room chair, sofa, or living room set. Generally, the fabrics used in quality furniture upholstery today are stain-resistant, but the trend toward using more natural materials has introduced new fabrics that have a high potential for staining. Most stains will come out, if fresh, with a mixture of dish detergent and water, unless the fabric calls for drycleaning. The proper method of cleaning a particular fabric is indicated by a letter or letters usually included on the label.
- W-is for water-based cleaner such as mild detergent or upholstery shampoo.
- S-solvent. Use carefully in a well-ventilated room. Water stains may become permanent if cleaned with solvent.
- S-W- Spot clean with solvent or water-based foam.
- X-Vacuum only.
