The Virtues of Minimalism

Sometimes in decorating, less is more. There is just something inviting about a clean, simple house.
At Networx, I spend my days reading about fabulously decorated houses and scheming ways to create similar looks on much lower budgets. We want to provide our readers with ways to live in style for less. I totally coveted the bamboo bathroom scale in this week's article on Bamboo For Your Bathroom and the Decorette Wall Decals in our article on Retro Home Accessories.
With so much inspiration, you'd think my house would be decorated to the nines...but it's not.
I live in a loft-style studio apartment that I have decorated only minimally. I entertain a lot and I find it really funny that my guests walk into my house for dinner and say, "Wow! You did such a good job decorating this place!" My walls are white. I have a simple terrazzo tile floor. The beams are exposed metal. I haven't hung anything on the walls yet because I don't want to disturb the clean look of the apartment.
One of the blogs I love right now is Design Sponge. If you want minimalist decorating inspiration, check out their photos of La Finca, an almost totally white Majorcan villa. I sweat this house - its design is decidedly minimalist but palpably warm and hospitable.
I wonder sometimes where the line is between minimalism and un-decorated. Any thoughts?
