While the intended purpose of sandpaper is to smooth rough edges on wood, there are a bunch of other things you can do with the gritty sheets. For instance, if you run a sewing needle through the unused corners of fine-grit sandpaper a few times, it will sharpen them. Similarly, to sharpen dull scissors, cut up a piece of fine-grit sandpaper. Voila! Back to new.
Have you noticed an increasing number of pills on your favorite winter sweaters? Lightly run any grit of sandpaper over the pills in one direction and that should get rid of them. While we're in the closet, take a look at those brand new dress shoes you bought. Does the slick sole seem like an embarrassing slip-and-fall waiting to happen? Scuff up the sole a bit with some sandpaper to give you better traction.
On to the bathroom: If your grout is too grimy for your bathroom cleaner, use the folded edge of fine-grit sandpaper to remove the stains. But be careful not to damage your tiles.
How about a kitchen trick for good measure? If you just can't get the lid off of that jar, put a piece of sandpaper grit-side-down on the top and twist.
