When insects mysteriously show up around the house it can be infuriating to try to get rid of them when there is no obvious cause.

A recent thread on Hometalk offered up a secret to getting rid of pesky gnats or flies that have taken up residence in a member's kitchen.

Woodbridge Environmental explains that a dirty drain is probably the culprit. The built up scum un the sides of the pipes attracts the gnats or flies, and a thorough cleaning should eliminate them. They recommend using a bottle brush first, then pouring full strength bleach to finish the job.
