November Gardening Tips

Good day, Networx readers!

November is an important transitional time for your garden. I've compiled a list of important November gardening tasks for those of you who live in 4-season climates (sorry, Floridians!). Have a look - if I forgot something, leave a comment. Share your own autumn garden tips with the Networx community!

•   Apply mulch after the first freeze and before

    it snows.

•   Protect newly planted trees with trunk wrap.

•   Clean up the garden - rotting plants and

stakes are breeding grounds for decay and

garden diseases. November is an important time for preventing insect and disease growth in

       your garden.

  • Mulch strawberries with clean straw after the first freeze and before it snows.
  • Remove all fruit from fruit trees.
  • Cut chrysanthemum stems close to the ground.
  • Clean and store tools. Replace power tools spark plugs, oil, sharpen blades.
  • Mark bulbs you planted with stakes.
  • Cover or bring in garden furniture.
  • Turn the compost.
  • Water plants, trees, and shrubs before the ground freezes.
  • Tie roses to their supports.
  • Trim your grapevines.
