Natural Copper and Silver Polishes

Standard copper and silver polishes can be toxic, bad for the environment and expensive. But, there are standard kitchen items that do the trick nicely. You can clean copper pots and lids with a mixture of one pint of vinegar and three tablespoons of salt. Mix ingredients in a spray bottle, spray on, let sit for a few minutes and wipe dry. For harder to clean copper pan bottoms, try pouring salt on a lemon half and rubbing the bottom of the pan. You can clean your silver with water from boiled potatoes. And, toothpaste applied with a toothbrush works well in deep decorative designs.
