My Favorite Tool

Let me tell you about my favorite (and the most useful) tool in my toolbox. It's not my orange-handled hammer, or my electric-green utility knife, but my big bright yellow cordless power drill. But then "drill" is almost a misnomer. Sure, it can drill a hole in almost anything, given the proper drill bit and enough torque, but I use it primarily as a screw gun. Whether it's driving multiple screws in any number of projects or a quickie to hang a picture, why twist your arm when you can pull the trigger. I usually use a standard "manual" screwdriver to poke, prod, or pry, but rarely to actually drive a screw. In these times of squeezing the most out of just about everything, the word "multitask" takes on new meaning, and this tool is the epitome of multitasking. And it's versatile well beyond driving screws. I use it with a twist auger to stir up cans of paint or drywall texture, or with a wire wheel to get the old adhesive off bathroom tiles so I can reuse them, and so much more. I even bought a one for my son after I found him repeatedly raiding my tool box for his own projects. And he's figured out uses for it that I didn't have to tell him about. And you can too.
