Just Add Lemonade Mix to Lime Scale

Citric acid is a known cleaning agent, but if you have none, it turns out you can use powdered lemonade mix as a substitute (even lemonade-flavored Kool-Aid works). Run an empty dishwasher cycle with lemonade mix instead of detergent to remove hard water spots, dirt and grease from inside your machine. Do it once a month to keep things clean. Use the powder to clean any kind of water deposits you'd normally remove with citric acid, including from showerheads, coffee makers, toilets and faucets. You can also make a lemonade-powder paste with a bit of water to remove berry stains from your hands.
