We salute your organizing efforts, and we want to respond to the age old question: "Where can I take all my junk?" As a follow up to her article, The 10 Lies People Tell Themselves About Clutter, Networx writer Linda Merrill compiled this list of people and places who can take your clutter off your hands:
• Dirty Deeds: A local Massachusetts
business specializing in clutter removal.
The proprietress spent thirty years working
as a social worker, so she understands
the psychology behind the human
attachment to stuff. Google your local junk
removal service.
- 800-GotJunk: A national chain of junk removal pros. If you have tons stuff that you just have no idea where or how to haul away, call them.
- Craig's List: Advertise your stuff on the "free" page on your city's Craigslist. You'll get more E-mails from people who want your stuff than you'll be able to answer.
- Ebay: This solution takes patience, and be prepared to sell your stuff for way less than you bought it for.
- The Salvation Army Thrift Stores: Your local Salvation Army, Good Will, or church thrift shop are great places to donate unwanted stuff. You'll be helping out a charitable organization and yourself.
- Local swap sheds: Many municipal transfer stations and recycling centers have swap sheds. They're places you can leave usable stuff for others to take for free. Check with your municipality.
