If you are planning on hosting a Halloween party in your home then you have probably already got your plans together. But if you are anything like me then procrastination, a busy schedule and not knowing where to start usually translates into last minute planning.

Here are some quick last minute tips for making your Halloween party success.

1. Put Away Breakables- This is especially important if you'll be serving alcohol! Check out these great ideas for Halloween cocktails. If you have a rowdy bunch of friends and family than you may even consider some of your special breakables from mantles too.

2. Outdoors- If it isn't too cold yet, then consider hosting most of the party outside. It'll really help with the cleanup after and can create a cool Halloween effect in the dark. Hang some orange lanterns for extra light.

3. Sweets- Decorate your tables with candy corns. Scatter them around coffee and end tables or fill some small bowls and vases.

4. Food- Check out these adorable Halloween dinner ideas at Hostess with the Mostess. The "boo" spaghetti and meatballs is my favorite. Share your Halloween recipes below.

5. Furniture- Consider covering your couches with black slip covers. Not only does it lend itself to a Halloween theme but it will protect your couches from any food or drink stains. Black slipcovers are a great investment as you can use them each year for your Halloween party or for other occasions throughout the year. Consider putting some of that fun cotton spider web stuff over the couches and you'll really be rocking in the theme area!

6. Clean Up or DIE...- I was once at a Halloween party where the hostesses made the most creative sign on a black poster board which read "clean up or DIE". They decorated the sign with glitter and a picture of an ax and hung black garbage bags with cotton webs next to the poster. It was one wild house party and they didn't want to be stuck with the cleanup. At first I thought it was a little much, but after getting stuck last year with all the cleanup after my Halloween house party, I am convince that this is the way to go.

Happy Halloween! Please share your ideas on how you've transformed your home into a Halloween Haven!
