A little bit of flexibility goes a long way in home painting jobs. If you don't absolutely need to match a very specific color, look for custom-tinted paint that was returned to a home improvement store. If the color is light enough and in the family of colors you need, you might be able to re-tint the paint. Also consider tinted primer under your paint. It is cheaper than regular paint and could save your from painting another coat. Finally, when choosing colors, go lighter to save money. Darker shades typically require more coats.
