Gardening Tip: Cracking Tomatoes

If your tomatoes are cracking on the vine, landscaper Douglass Hunt of Smyrna Beach, FL recommends mulching the area around the plant to moderate moisture. Tomatoes crack because of inconsistent water, but some varieties of tomatoes are more crack-resistant than others. Hunt recommends Jetstar, Mountain Spring and Mountain Fresh tomato varieties.
