Energy-Efficient Christmas Lights

The Christmas decorating die-hards among you have probably already decked your halls. However, many of you are probably just beginning to think about hanging Christmas lights. With the economy in shambles and the Christmas budgets of many Americans slashed, we think it's nice to add a little light to the world. I don't want you to run up your electric bill this Christmas season, so I've compiled a list of energy-efficient Christmas lighting options that should light up these long winter nights and add a little holiday cheer to your neighborhood.

White Wide Angle LED Christmas Lights: If you prefer classic white incandescent Christmas light strings, try these. They use 90% less power than incandescent Christmas lights and stay cool to the touch, making them safe near flammable materials (like trees, for instance). Holiday LEDS has at least 20 different LED Christmas lights options to choose from, at reasonable prices. Their lights come with a lifetime warranty, which makes them a very good value.

Light-Sensitive Cordless Window Candle: LL Bean is selling these traditional Christmas lights with an eco-friendly twist: They're light-sensitive (so they turn off automatically in the morning) and have LED bulbs. Pop in a couple rechargeable AA batteries and you have a Christmas light solution that uses barely any electricity.

Moravian Star Light Fixture: This light fixture plus a CFL bulb equals a low-impact, high-style holiday decoration that you can leave up year round. The one pictured here is from Pottery Barn, but there are a lot of variations on this theme available online.

LED Net Lights: Net lights are a great way to light up a whole bushes. You can save time by simply spreading net lights over your bushes, and save energy with LED light bulbs.

Happy Holidays!
