It's eco friendly Tuesday here at Networx.com and here are some ways to brighten up your Tuesday wherever you may be: Eco-friendly and recycled lamps! There is a growing market for recycled lamps and I found some great picks out there on the internet from a recycled green glass table lamp to a rattan and bamboo table lamp and even a working recycled wine bottle with a lamp shade- this one you could probably pull off as a DIY or buy it here.

One of my favorites was a lamp that can double up as a message center. The base of the lamp is made from cork so pushpins can be used to stick up messages or notes. Check out these other amazing ideas for recycled lamps and light fixtures:

Don't forget to use an energy efficient light bulb in your eco-friendly lamp. There are really some great energy and money saving advantages to using these kinds of light bulbs. Here are some of the advantages:

  • Reduce your electricity bill by half (from switching your entire home to energy efficient bulbs)
  • Replacing a single incandescent bulb with a CFL will keep a half-ton of CO2 out of the atmosphere over the life of the bulb. If everyone in the U.S. used energy-efficient lighting, we could retire 90 average size power plants. Saving electricity reduces CO2 emissions, sulfur oxide and high-level nuclear waste (source: eartheasy.com)
  • Longer lasting than incandescent bulbs
  • Many choices: CFL (compact fluorescent light bulbs) - in many shapes and sizes, LED bulbs- available in many colors, Xenon bulbs- the rising star in energy efficient lighting.

You can help make the world more energy efficient- one light bulb at a time!
