Dry Laundry Near Your Furnace

Many who use clotheslines in the summer revert to the dryer for winter laundry. There is no need to switch back to the energy-guzzling dryer when it is too cold out for the clothesline. Just put the wet laundry on collapsible drying racks and place them in the warmest room in the house. I leave mine right in the laundry room, which happens to also house the furnace. The drying laundry will humidify a dry house, and offers double the energy savings. A dryer pulls heat from your house, then vents it outside, making the furnace work harder.
