Drug Trafficking! Another Reason for Suburban Home Buyers to Be Paranoid

The Chicago Tribune reported recently that an increasing number of suburban Chicago houses are inhabited by, gasp!, drug cartels. Having grown up in a suburb of Boston that was absolutely saturated with drugs, it comes as no surprise to me that a suburban house could be full of cocaine. Neighbors of the Mexican family who was hired to "house sit" a wholesale cocaine distribution house in Joliet, IL said that they "never would have expected it." The Chicago Tribune reports, "Separately, in Romeoville, Plainfield and elsewhere, the stash houses that moved several tons of drugs a month in the largest drug conspiracy in Chicago history weren't sleazy shacks but well-manicured single-family dwellings." Suburban home buyers would be advised to not just investigate the municipal water supply and school system, but also to be on the lookout for 18 wheel trucks delivering curious loads of brick-shaped objects to their potential neighbors. Seriously, I know their house is nice, but no one can afford to order that many sweaters from J-Crew.
