Close Off Your Fireplace

If you have a fireplace and don't use it, you are probably losing heat through the chimney. Install a chimney cap on top of the chimney to prevent water from coming down the chimney. Block the entrance to the chimney with foam board. Cut the foam board to the size of the inside of the chimney and wedge the board inside the chimney. We recommend doing some basic chimney maintenance before closing off your chimney, lest you trap small animals who might be living in it.
