Alarm Clocks

I am tired today so I'm blogging about the bane of my existence and the household object that allows me to function at all: the alarm clock.
I thought I tried every alarm clock on the market: the Zen alarm clock, an old-fashioned wind up alarm clock, big ugly plug-in digital alarm clocks, a musical alarm clock, and small battery operated alarm clocks. I have finally settled on just setting the alarm on my cell phone. I'm still looking for the perfect alarm clock that strikes the balance between being aesthetically pleasing, loud enough to wake me up, doesn't suck power out of the wall all the time, and is not too annoying. Here are a few I'd like to try:
- Clocky: It's an alarm clock on wheels called "the funniest alarm clock ever" because it jumps off your bedside table and runs around your room. It might be annoying, but it is very nicely designed. You can only hit snooze once before it jumps 3 feet from your table and starts moving.
- The Peaceful Progression Wake Up Clock: This clock gradually wakes you up with nature sounds and aromatherapy. It looks like a weird plastic new age pyramid, but I would overlook the design in favor of its functionality.
- The Enso Clock: I like the idea of being woken up by the sound of Tibetan gongs, but I had terrible luck with the Zen Alarm clock. Two AA batteries never seemed to provide enough power to actually make the rod hit the chime, which resulted in one very embarrassing missed meeting. The Enso Clock is a small digital clock that promises a gradual wake up to the sound of recorded Tibetan gongs, without any mechanical action.
Do you have an alarm clock that always gets you up in the morning? Tell me about it.
