Acrylic Tub

Has your acrylic bathtub seen better days? Is it scratched, dirty, or dull? Well, before you start sweating about the cost of a new tub, try these clean-tub tricks: First of all, acrylic bath tubs have non-porous solid surfaces that make for easy cleaning of stains and deposits. Caked on grit will usually come off with the use of regular liquid dish washing soap, like Joy or Palmolive, or you can try an ammonia-based cleaner for more stubborn stains. Never use paint remover, thinner or acetone to clean your tub, as it may actually damage the acrylic and probably void your tub's warranty. For scratches and dulling, put a little liquid polisher or metal polish on a soft, clean cloth and scrub around the scratch in a circular motion. The scratch should disappear. If not, you can sand the area down using a wetted 1500 grit piece of sandpaper and then try polishing again. In the worst-case scenario of tough stains or scratches, you can still avoid the expense of a brand new tub by purchasing an acrylic bathtub liner instead. A liner is essentially an insert that you put over your existing tub. Acrylic liners are a great quick-fix idea that will give your bathroom tub a beautiful makeover in no time.
