5 Cheap Options: 4 Poster Canopy Beds

An option for creating a private bedroom space in a scaled-down, multi-tasking living space is a 4 poster canopy bed. It's counterintuitive, as canopy beds are big. What they provide is privacy. With the curtains drawn, a canopy bed is an alcove unto itself. A streamlined, modern canopy bed can define your living space, but they're not cheap. I found five good ones on the lower end of the price scale:
• Ikea Edland 4 Poster Bed Frame: It's $299
without the requisite slatted base. I see a
lot of potential with this canopy bed for
hacking and customizing, it is made from
Ikea's standard wood parts.
- Contour Canopy Bed with Frame from Sears: For $233, this metal canopy bed is a good deal. It combines clean and modern metal construction with feminine details.
- Excel King-size Canopy Bed from Overstock.com: This super-modern and slightly masculine canopy bed is a measly $269.99. There's clearance underneath it for storage.
- Garrett Brown Ash Queen Canopy Bed: Finding a solid wood canopy bed for under $1000 is hard, but this one from eFurniture Showroom fits the bill. It's $646, solid ash, modern, sturdy and makes a statement.
- Architecture Bed from Room & Board: This one is my favorite of the bunch, and also the most expensive (surprise, surprise). It's very mod-looking, sturdy steel, and is listed at $799.
