•   The New York Times reported yesterday

that Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft have

updated their popular game consoles to

     include features like streaming video,

Netflix service and chat capabilities. This is

good news for folks who want t

consolidate home media - your video

game console may soon be the hub of

     your home entertainment system.

 •   Tech Crunch reported on January 12th that

a wireless TV is in the works from a

company called Haier. The TV runs on a

wireless electrical current. The prototype is

not yet being produced for consumers.

Imagine your wireless devices charging without wires. WiTricity, the company whose

technology is behind the development, claims it's safe. I recommend not testing it in the

       bathroom after a steamy shower.

  • "Wired" reported on January 8th that the Boxee box has been launched and will be ready for shipping to consumers next quarter. The Boxee is a web supported home media platform that links to your hard drive and sports a sleek interface and mod assymetrical cube-like design. It has a QWERTY keyboard and does everything from playing external music sources to supporting 3rd party media applications. Basically, it's a really feature-dense way to watch internet media on your TV. Cool, and it's only $200.
  • 3D TV initiatives abound. The Discovery Channel and IMAX have teamed up to create an all 3D TV network. Sony is developing a 3D TV. I'm taking a poll: Would you wear 3D glasses in your house?
