Help! I Can't Find a Handyman in My Area.

Here is why you might be saying “I can’t find a handyman in my area”: Handymen are not always listed in the Yellow Pages. They’re also don’t necessarily have websites. Some are, and some do, but many of the best handymen operate purely by word of mouth.

Here are the options if you have reached the point of googling “can’t find a handyman in my area.”

1. Your first option is to reach out to neighbors, family, friends, and coworkers to find out if they have employed any good handymen. While it can be a little embarrassing to call everyone you know looking for a handyman, it could yield the best results.

2. The second possibility is to scour the internet. Be sure to take a look at online homeowner reviews (preferably the unbiased kind, not just reviews which are posted on the pro's own website) before you hire a handyman

3. Another way is to search for other types of home improvement workers. Since certain contractors are licensed to do several types of work, including "honey-do" type tasks usually performed by handymen, you might be able to find a handyman in your area by looking through listings of home improvement pros like carpenters and plumbers. Some of them might actually offer handyman services.

4. The last resort is print media. Seriously. Your neighborhood “shopper” might have handymen services listed in it. Local handymen also might advertise in your local weekly paper. I know it’s old fashioned, but you gotta do what you gotta do when you’re desperate and you’re saying, “I can’t find a handyman in my area.”

Good luck with your search! I hope that your problem of “I can’t find a handyman in my area” will get solved.
